Support Senior Pets in North Texas
At HSNT, we know that senior pet owners experience meaningful physical and emotional health benefits due to pet ownership. However, many seniors struggle to access affordable preventive veterinary care, sometimes forcing them to choose between meeting their own needs and keeping their beloved pet.
In 2014, our Rae of Hope program was created to address this growing need and help keep seniors and their pets where they belong – together. HSNT is here to help serve our senior community by providing FREE preventive veterinary care, including vaccines, microchipping, flea & tick treatment, heartworm testing, and prevention.

Helping Seniors and Their Pets Stay Together
For many senior citizens, pets are more than companions. They are a source of comfort, routine, and emotional support. Research shows that seniors with pets experience improved mental and physical health.
Unfortunately, many seniors are forced to surrender their pets due to the rising cost of veterinary care. The Humane Society of North Texas is working to change that.
What Is the Rae of Hope Program
The Rae of Hope Program was created in 2014 to help low-income seniors keep their beloved pets at home by providing essential preventive veterinary care.
Named after a long-term, dedicated supporter, this program focuses on keeping pets out of shelters and where they belong, with the families who love them.
Through this initiative, HSNT supports both pets and people, strengthening the bond between them.

Keeping Pets Out of Shelters
One of the most powerful outcomes of the Rae of Hope Program is prevention.
By helping seniors care for their pets, we reduce the number of animals entering shelters. This allows HSNT to focus resources on animals who truly have nowhere else to go.
