 Equine Ranch Wellness Program

The Power of Partnership

Human and Horse

At the Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT) Equine Ranch, healing flows both ways. Rescued horses, once neglected or abandoned—find peace and purpose through connection. In turn, they help veterans, and cancer survivors rediscover calm, confidence, and strength. By rehabilitating rescue horses, participants not only aid in their recovery but also find purpose in helping them discover their forever homes.

Together, horse and human embark on a journey of trust, empathy, and second chances—proof that true healing happens through connection.

A Unique Approach to Wellness

Calming Enriching visits

Our program is rooted in connection-based horsemanship—an approach that prioritizes trust, mindfulness, and communication through relaxation.

Participants engage in quiet groundwork where communication happens through energy, presence, and breath.

Horses learn to trust again and prepare for adoption.

Participants gain calm, confidence, and a sense of belonging.

Healing is discovered, one step, one breath, one moment at a time.

Guided by Experience  Grounded in compassion

Grounded In Compassion

Led by seasoned equine professionals Steve and Amanda Stevens, our program is built on the foundation of their decades of dedicated rescue and rehabilitation work and Amanda's personal resilience as a breast cancer survivor. They believe that healing is a mutual journey; by teaching humans to listen to the subtle language of the horse, they facilitate a unique space where transformation happens naturally.

Every session is designed to nurture trust, foster mindfulness, and prove that with the right guidance, both horse and human can find their way back to peace.

Purple Abstract

I just wanted to take a moment, and say thank you and let you know just how much I have appreciated you in the past 2 months.

Your kindness, time and support has meant so much. Joining your health and wellness program has been life changing. I knew I was going to have fun with it but I didn't realize just how healing this experience was going to be. I knew it was going to be a good way to get me moving, and a great way to make new friends. Your program has done just that and more. As a cancer patient, and I know you know this feeling too, the healing, grounding and strength just hits different. Getting to be with the horses has healed something in me, I didn't even realize needed healing. My bond with JJ has brought that light back into my life after everything I've had to endure just to survive. My bond with you and JJ has reminded me, I'm not just surviving, I am also thriving! So, thank you for all that you do. I look forward to many more sessions.

~This is my healing journey.
