Reggie
At the beginning of January, I saw Reggie on HSNT's site (of course lured there by a Facebook post ).
Ugh! My husband, and I swore “no dogs” after Holly’s passing. We had lost both of our dogs 361 days apart and it was just too much. Plus, this is a busy season in our lives and teenagers are so expensive. We just needed a little break from things to take care of.
But Reggie.
When I read about him he was in “Animal Care Room 4.”
“He should be in my living room,” I thought.
Later that week Jeremy dreamed about him. I hopped back on the HSNT site and Reggie was gone...
Later that week, I saw a post about the HSNT adoption truck being in Watauga that weekend. "Well, sheesh, Watauga is so close. I wonder who is going to be on the truck?"
Guess what? Reggie.
There he was on the adoption truck list of animals but this time pictured with a little blanket over his head instead of his poor intake photo that had originally caught my eye.
Well sheesh; He’ll be so close. We had to at least go look at him, right?
And that’s all it took.
Reginald Upchurch joined our family on January 11th.
Saved from a high-kill animal control center by HSNT earlier that month, Reggie is living *the good life* as an Upchurch.
Have there been any hiccups? Well yes.
He is a more aggressive chewer than our other two dogs were.
Not a problem. We bought him hard-to-ruin toys.
He has had a few accidents in his kennel, too.
Not a problem. He's struggling a bit with separation right now so we have adjusted our work day a bit so we can pop in during the day some and let him out / teach him that we'll always come back.
He's a fast learner and loves nightly "school" where he practices new tricks. He loves walking on a leash and sleeping in the big bed at night. He helps make trips to school to drop off and pick up his human sibling each day. He is so polite and waits to hear you say, "It's yours" before he will eat his treat.
He is the bestest boy and we are SO glad that Reggie is part of our pack now.
Thank you Humane Society of North Texas for saving these babies and helping them get into loving homes.
