Maximus' Story

After 14 years of companionship, my father lost his dog "Sidekick" to old age. We had been looking through shelters and rescues websites for a big dog who had a gentle spirit. My father and I originally went to the HSNT Lancaster location to look at a few pitbull/bully mixes that you had at the time. Our family loves to love the pups other people might look past. My father has usually had female dogs and has always rescued or adopted from shelters.

We were able to walk the kennels and check out the dogs in person. We met a couple dogs and nothing clicked just yet then we decided to meet Maximus — the biggest dog you had in the shelter! We just FELL IN LOVE immediately with Maximus. He was so sweet from the first moment we met him. I was able to pet him, touch his ears and he even showed us his belly right away. I had a good feeling like Max would be our perfect fit. My dad agreed and here we are one and a half years later and still just love this boy to pieces.

There is nothing better than the unconditional love of a once unwanted pet. Max is no exception. We make sure he will always have a family who will never give up on him, no matter how many blankets, couches, or pairs of shoes he has chewed. No matter how many times he barks at the garbage trucks every week or throws himself in ANY puddle he sees. He is a true part of the family and we thank you again for saving our sweet sweet Max.
