Millie's Story
I’d been on the search for a puppy companion for about 2 years with no luck. I had been living in Fort Worth for almost a year and had become well acquainted with the HSNT staff at the Lancaster location. I’d pop in and out week after week seeing what dogs were available but none were quite the right fit. I live an active lifestyle so I wanted a dog that could keep up with long distance runs, car rides all over Texas and my parent’s dog Tucker, a very active Australian Shepherd.
The day after I got back from vacation in September 2015 I popped into the shelter. I walked the aisles like usual and came up to a cage with the prettiest and calmest Border Collie I’d ever seen. She was solemnly sitting at the back of her cage until I walked up. When she saw me approach, she got up and simply sat right next to the gate and looked straight up at me with beautiful brown eyes. I’ve never experienced a “that’s the one” or “love at first sight” moment until right then. I asked to get her out, we walked outside and I sat down to pet her. She immediately flopped onto her back right in my lap and I was sold. I didn’t even have to think about it, that was it. I signed the paperwork within 15 minutes and she was mine. It’s been 3 years now and as the first dog of my very own, she’s been THE best dog I could’ve ever dreamed of owning.
My family has always been very adamant about adopting our family pets rather than shopping the breeder route and I could not be a bigger advocate. Thank you for being a part of me finding my other half. My Millie
