Lilly's Story
12 puppies dumped in a box on the side of the road, left for a certain death. Apparently there were much bigger plans for these fluffs and we couldn’t be more thankful for the Good Samaritans who found them.
Meet Lilly. She’s a game changer. World traveler. Mans best friend. You see Lilly’s parents are from Germany—they live here in Texas but as high school educators, they travel with exchange students and explore their homeland. Lilly travels abroad and is even bilingual!
Recently, Lily made the German papers!
“After 2 1/2 weeks, the city of Amberg is saying goodbye to the exchange students from Texas - and the farewell is especially hard to say to one guest: little dog Lilly, whom a teacher brought over the ocean. When Kerstin Hellwege is riding her bike across the Amberg market plaza with her 7-month old Shihtzu-Chihuahua in a carrier, you would think she is a born Amberger. But she isn’t. The Berlin native is the teacher of the exchange students from the Trophy Club in Texas and spent only 2 1/2 weeks here in Amberg. However, for the 5th time. Every other year, students age 16 and 17 come from the U.S. to visit students at the Max-Reger-HS. For the time in Amberg, the German-American rented a vacation apartment in the Salzgasse. I’m almost an Amberger, says Hellwege. But on Monday, the German teacher and her students are heading back to Dallas home via Nuremberg and Frankfurt. Also little dog Lilly. She is not only flying in a passenger airplane over the Atlantic, but als in a front carrier over the market plaza.”
What a fantastic HSNT Alumni story. Live loved Lilly! From your Texas family!
