When we rescued this darling mare from a cruelty case, she was emaciated and had hoof soreness.

After months of being on our re-feeding program and having proper hoof care provided by our farrier, Jyn is the picture of health now!

She is so sweet and gentle, has perfect ground manners and gets along wonderfully with other horses 🥰

Jyn has never been rode and is seeking a forever home as a companion horse.

Happy 😊 is a cruelty survivor who has endured more than any pet ever should. When our Cruelty Investigations team arrived in Hill County, they found him starving, isolated, and tightly bound by heavy collars and a chain. He was one of more than forty dogs suffering on the property, cut off from human kindness and denied even the most basic care.

The moment our team removed those chains ⛓️‍💥, everything about him shifted. His tail moved in a tentative wag, he lifted his head for the first time without restraint, and he finally understood that help had arrived.

Happy is now safe at our Keller Regional Adoption Center, where he is learning what compassion feels like. He loves people—every age, every type. He has met countless children through school visits and greets each one with gentleness and excitement. After years of being denied attention, he simply wants to be someone’s whole world. Because he was never allowed to be part of a pack and was often taunted by other dogs who were free while he remained chained, Happy prefers to be the only dog in the home. There are no behavioral concerns—he just wants a home where he doesn’t have to compete for love.

Did you see Kiara on @fox4news The Ten this morning? Kiara is 8½ years young and has been with us since April 2025, far too long for a dog with a heart this tender and a spirit this bright. She was found abandoned outside our shelter, tied to a parking sign pole, and left behind. That moment could have defined her, but Kiara chose joy instead. She has met every new day with hope, sweetness, and the most contagious smile.

Despite being overlooked for not being “small” or “fluffy,” Kiara is the dog everyone at the shelter gravitates toward. She has the happy bounce of a younger pup, a calm confidence that comes with age, and an easygoing personality that makes her a favorite among staff and volunteers.

Kiara loves other dogs and adores every human she meets. She shines in playgroups, romping with younger dogs, matching energy when needed, and knowing exactly when it’s time to take a break. A meet-and-greet is always recommended for families with resident dogs. She also seems to follow the shelter potty routine well, making her a steady, house-ready companion without the chaos of puppy training.

On Doggy Day Outs, Kiara has been a total star. She rides beautifully in the car, lounges politely at coffee shops, relaxes during football games, and enjoys backyard time and pool splashes. She takes life in stride, gentle and grateful for every moment.

Kiara does have one non-negotiable: no cats. She thinks chasing them is a sport, so a feline-free home is best.
