For Lawyer Referred Or Court Ordered Community Service

Please read all the information before filling out the form. By completing and signing the form, you are acknowledging the rules and guidelines for participating in our community service program.

9 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday-Friday

BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

●    Community service starts at 9 a.m. and is offered 5 days a week with weekends being pre-arranged depending on the maintenance schedule
●    Must be able to stay a minimum of 4 hours
●    Must be 18 years of age or older
●    Bring a drink/snack
●    Be able to work outside in hot/cold weather
●    Be able to stand/stoop for long periods of time
●    Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

HSNT STANDARD REQUIREMENTS

●    Must provide documentation of charges
●    Must provide legal photo identification (DL, Passport, etc)
●    Must dress in appropriate attire, clothing must cover shoulders to knees at all times. No mesh or see through clothing is permitted at any time. No tank-tops or spaghetti strap-tops are allowed
●    Any visible tattoos that are obscene or contain offensive words or symbols must be covered up while on HSNT property
●    No drugs, alcohol, or profanity are allowed to be displayed on clothing
●    Cell phone use should be restricted to break times or for HSNT business and should remain on vibrate at all times
●    Foul, obscene, abusive, or threatening language should not be used at any time in work

GUIDELINES AND RULES FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAM

●    Community service volunteers may apply to be a HSNT volunteer only after they have completed the community service hours required, if they were in good standing while completing community service and must submit to proper volunteer applicant protocol
●    Community service must sign in at the “Community service desk” in the maintenance department
●    An approved employee must verify their time in and their time out on the sign in sheet
●    Community service volunteers are not allowed to handle or interact with the animals at any time
●    Community service volunteers are not allowed in any of the following areas unless escorted by an approved staff member: animal health prep rooms, surgery, euthanasia areas.

DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS

  • If community service volunteer is found to be handling and interacting with the animals, using their cell phone when not on break, in an unapproved area without an escort, wearing inappropriate apparel, not staying on task or found idle in any areas they were assigned to work in, they will receive one verbal warning, if they repeat the offense please notify the Maintenance Coordinator or Maintenance Manager and they will be asked to leave HSNT for the day, resulting in a loss of hours.

  • If any community service volunteer is found to be insubordinate or acting in an inappropriate manner, notify the Maintenance Coordinator or Maintenance Manager immediately and they will be asked to leave. If the offense is deemed severe enough by the Maintenance Coordinator or Maintenance Manager, the community service will no longer be allowed to complete community service hours at HSNT.
