Victoria and Skimbleshanks

We started thinking about adding a cat to our family a few years ago, but with a big, busy family, I kept finding reasons to put it off a little longer. Then last May, my daughter’s band was playing a gig at Mayfest in Fort Worth, Texas, and the Humane Society of North Texas was set up close by. We decided just to take a look (haha) at the fur babies while we waited for her set to start. Of course, the next thing we knew, we were bringing our precious Victoria home!!

Even though we had never had a cat before, her name had been chosen by our daughter many years ago. She and her brothers are musical theatre performers, and Victoria is her favorite dancer in the musical, Cats! So, it was meant to be that she finally had her Victoria, and we all instantly fell in love with her. She is the most precious kitty and has changed our lives.

As the story usually goes, we couldn’t have just one cat, so a few months later, we adopted our second kitten from an HSNT adoption event at Petco! He is Skimbleshanks (aka Skimble, also from the musical ). Together, they are pure joy, mischief, and love.

I am so thankful for the HSNT and could not have ever imagined how much these sweet babies would mean to us. Our only regret is not adopting cats much sooner!
