Green and Purple Abstract

Rhett

“I rescued a dog from Operation Kindness that had to have his eyes removed due to the neglect he suffered. Recently I was looking at his papers and saw that HSNT was the original organization that saved him. I decided to find y’all on Facebook in hopes that I could see more about Rhett, and sure enough, I saw a photo of my baby when he still had his eyes.

Then I read all about the seizure of 78+ dogs and was totally blown away! I had no clue his situation was that severe. I knew he had gone through some serious trauma, because of some of the behaviors he has had coming into our home. We have always known that it was just a fear response for him, and that he must have been through something terrible to react to situations the way he does. It has taught us that sometimes dogs have been through so much trauma and pain that they will always struggle, and it is our job as humans to adapt around them, to be patient, to be understanding, and to do everything we can to help them feel loved, safe, and protected. It has been over a year and he has improved so much!

On a different note, y’all will be happy to know that he does so well without his eyes. He is able to easily navigate around, and I have gotten very good at patting my leg or snapping fingers when guiding him. In the photos you will see a red tomato, that is his Tom, and we have about five hundred of them that he carries around EVERYWHERE, even while he goes to the bathroom. It’s his little security blanket. It is the cutest thing! Another crazy thing is that he is able to catch, if you can believe that! We count to three and he knows to get ready.

Being around him, and watching him live a happy life is such a rewarding feeling, and brings us all so much joy. 🤩

Thank y’all so much for rescuing him, and all that y’all do. Y’all are true heroes.”
