Kate Beckett
I came to the Petco Love 𝐌𝐄𝐆𝐀 𝐀𝐝𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 on Saturday, April 5th, hoping to find my perfect match. After meeting three dogs and not quite feeling that “spark,” I was starting to think it just wasn’t my day. I was about to leave when I overheard one volunteer ask another, “What about Kate? Is she still here?”
Immediately, the second volunteer took off down a row to check—and sure enough, Kate was still waiting.
They walked me over to her crate, and there she was—sitting quietly with the most soulful, sad puppy dog eyes. The volunteers began sharing her story: how she’d had a litter of puppies back in February and how she was just the sweetest girl. They were incredibly kind, patient, and answered all my questions without hesitation.
We took Kate over to one of the meet-and-greet pens, and the moment I kneeled down, she pressed her entire body into mine and gave me the softest dog kisses. That was it. I knew she was coming home with me.
The adoption process was a breeze—everyone was helpful, supportive, and the goodies we got from all the vendors were amazing. Kate rode home like a champ, and for the next two days, she barely left what’s now officially her spot on the couch.
These days, we’re taking life one belly rub and sunbath at a time—soaking in the morning rays on the balcony, enjoying evening strolls, and discovering the world together. Oh, and she now goes by Kate Beckett, named after my favorite character from Castle.
