Out of an abundance of caution, the intake of dogs at the Lancaster Avenue location is temporarily closed to prevent the possible spread of canine influenza in our shelter. In addition, dog adoptions from the Saxe-Forte (Fort Worth) location are also temporarily closed.

My husband and I have always been “dog people” and wanted a pup of our own. As young professionals, we have moved several times over the past 3 years for work, and knew it wasn’t fair to adopt until we were settled in one city. Having finally put down roots in Fort Worth, established routines at work, and completed our vacations for the year we decided it was time to adopt. We promised ourselves we would take our time to find the perfect match for our family, and not just adopt the first dog we saw.
OOPS! We went Petsmart to take a look at some of the available dogs with the Humane Society of North Texas. We had plans to visit other adoption locations, but there was no need. Cash (Fred at the time) stole our hearts. We met with a couple of the other dogs too, but our minds we made up. Cash was coming home with us. He is the happiest, sweetest, most handsome boy, and is already a perfect fit for our family. He loves cuddles, walks, and other people/dogs. It’s only been a short time, but it feels like he was always ours. Thank you HSNT for bringing this perfect pup into our lives!
