Out of an abundance of caution, the intake of dogs at the Lancaster Avenue location is temporarily closed to prevent the possible spread of canine influenza in our shelter. In addition, dog adoptions from the Saxe-Forte (Fort Worth) location are also temporarily closed.

"This is our handsome son, Camo. Before we got married, my wife and I wanted to adopt a kitten around Christmas time of 2018. We had already adopted our daughter, Myers, from your Fort Worth shelter. Myers is our elusive kitty that now bosses Camo around. I searched your website for several days when I came across Camo, who was then named Maple. It was love at first sight! He and his brother were brought into the Benbrook Waggin Tails shelter, and the shelter had done Christmas portraits of them. I called and made sure he was available. His brother was adopted earlier that day, but as soon as the worker said that he was available for adoption, I rushed over and completed the paperwork as quickly as possible. Since that day, Camo has been the sweetest and most loving addition to our family. He has grown into a miniature lion with all of his handsome fur. Every time we sit, he is soon in your lap. Every night at bedtime, he lays and sleeps on top of either me or my wife.
My wife and I have a 3yo daughter and a baby on the way. As my wife has progressed in her pregnancy, Camo now lays on her belly and seems to be keeping him safe in there. Thank you for all you do to help the cats, dogs, and other furry babies in our community!"
