This is Blue and he is our blessing. I could never begin to tell you how much he means to our family.
We were volunteering at HSNT when Blue was brought in on a hot summer Sunday afternoon very close to closing time. He was a tiny bottle-baby covered in so many fleas his skin looked like it was moving. He was dehydrated and very hungry. His eyes were matted closed due to an upper respiratory infection. His future should have been bleak, but his reality is not.
Slowly, with lots of food, medicine and loving care, his health improved and he was the first adoption during the HSNT Clear the Shelter Adoption Event. Blue now lives in Knoxville, TN with his loving mom, Mozart - his feline big brother, DK - his feline sister with another mother, and Stella - his canine BFF. Like Blue, all of his siblings are rescues. Blue has a wonderful sense of humor. He is adventurous and very inquisitive. He is affectionate and friendly. He is, also, very practical and believes it is important to conserve his energy, so he is sleeping in the vast majority of his pictures. Looking at him now, you would never know his past struggles. Blue is here, today, because of The Humane Society of North Texas and their commitment to doing the very best they possibly can for every living creature.
I shudder to think what would have happened to Blue if the shelter hadn't been there for him on that Sunday afternoon. All lives have value and as long as there is life, there is hope. Blue is living proof of what is possible.
