Out of an abundance of caution, the intake of dogs at the Lancaster Avenue location is temporarily closed to prevent the possible spread of canine influenza in our shelter. In addition, dog adoptions from the Saxe-Forte (Fort Worth) location are also temporarily closed.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH & EDUCATION
HSNT believes that educating future generations and our community is one of the best ways to prevent cruelty to animals and combat pet overpopulation.
HSNT’s Community Outreach & Education Program offers a variety of free educational programs to community members of all ages. We even have two child-friendly education dogs, Harli and Ziva, who can not only demonstrate proper animal handling and training but can also help children overcome their fear of canines.
HSNT’s Community Outreach & Education Program offers FREE presentations to a variety of venues including:
Community Centers
Public & Private Schools
Libraries
Churches
We are happy to honor requests for career day presentations, based on staff availability.
Our current curriculum includes:
Ten Steps to Care for Your Pet: What it Takes to Be a Good Pet Parent (English & Spanish version)
Safety with Animals (ages 3+)
The Basics of Training Your Dog (ages 10+)
Programs can be tailored for age groups up to and including high school.
