humane society of north texas services

Volunteer

The Humane Society of North Texas relies on the generosity of our wonderful volunteers. Their kindness and support enables us to continue our efforts in providing care for the animals in North Texas. From dog walkers to those who volunteer at events or behind the scenes, we couldn't do it without dedicated volunteers!

Our volunteers/fosters are the heart of HSNT. The more help we receive, the more we are able to assist the animals in our care.

Guidelines

All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. Unfortunately, we do not have an active junior volunteer program. Volunteers are asked to work at least four hours per month in the shelter or at offsite events. The volunteer enrollment fee is just $25 per volunteer.

Special Group Opportunities

A group of 10 or less is welcome when scheduled two weeks in advance. Please remember, everyone in the group must be over 18.

Requirements

Print and fill out the volunteer application or pick one up at either of our locations. Mail or drop it off at either location of HSNT. After receiving your signed application, the Volunteer Coordinator will contact you regarding dates of the next volunteer orientation. Orientation for new volunteers takes place once per month, lasts approximately 2 hours, includes a tour of the adoption areas, and a volunteer packet. Please dress comfortably. There will be no animal handling during orientation.

Mama Kitty and a litter of kittens came to HSNT over 20 years ago. Her kittens were fostered until adopted. Mama decided her place was here with us and thankfully still graces us with her smiling face each day.
