Humane Society removes 44 felines from North Fort Worth residence
FORT WORTH, TX (April 1, 2005) The Humane Society of North Texas, in cooperation with the owner, removed 44 cats and kittens from a residence in North Fort Worth, Texas on Thursday, 3/31. The owner of the animals, a middle aged man and his cats were living in an abandoned convenience store.
Humane investigators responded to a call from neighbors regarding the foul odor leading them to the owner’s residence. Inside the home, investigators noticed the lack of electricity, running water and the amount of fecal matter on the floor. Of the cats removed, few were spayed or neutered and bred amongst themselves causing an unmanageable number of felines. The owner deprived himself of basic necessities, but provided food and water to the cats while in his care. HSNT will evaluate each of the cats for health issues, contagious diseases and temperament.
For the Shelter, spring is considered “kitten season.” The Humane Society of North Texas has many cats and kittens available for adoption. Each are adorable, meowing for attention and in need of permanent homes. For more information on cat adoption, please contact the shelter at 817-332-HSNT (4768) or log on to www.hsnt.net.
