Marshall Grain’s “Meet the Need” Holiday Challenge

Raises $1975 for the Humane Society of North Texas

FORT WORTH, TX – JANUARY 11, 2011 –  Marshall Grain is proud to announce that it’s third annual “Meet the Need Holiday Challenge” collected $1975 in cash and in-kind donations on behalf of the Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT) during the 2011 Holiday season.

A leading retailer of organic gardening supplies and pet and animal care products in North Texas, Marshall Grain created the “Meet the Need Holiday Challenge” program in 2009 specifically to benefit HSNT. The program, which runs from Thanksgiving through Christmas, matches a portion of customer contributions with cash. Customers are invited to purchase pet foods and pet supplies on behalf of the Humane Society, or donate cash to HSNT’s account which HSNT can then apply toward purchases the organization makes for itself. For every dollar’s worth of merchandise or cash given by customers, Marshall Grain added 25 cents.

For 2011, customers contributed $1577.21 in cash and product donations. Marshall Grain matched that amount with another $398.30, for a total of $1975.51. The shelter will be able to use the monetary donations to purchase needed items such as dog and cat food, horse feed, hay, ropes, halters, and food dishes.
